DHB knew about Middlemore leaks in 2010 - survey

From Morning Report, 8:16 am on 3 May 2018

The Counties-Manukau DHB knew about damaging leaks at its main Middlemore Hospital wards building two years before it says it did. Acting chief executive Gloria Johnson told RNZ News in an Official Information Act response in March that the DHB was first alerted to its badly leaking buildings in 2012. But RNZ has now obtained a building survey from early 2010 that found decay and rot at the eight-year-old Scott Building and warned that incipient decay was "widespread". The facilities manager at the time, Greg Simpson told reporter Phil Pennington that this 2010 report marked the start of his increasingly being kept out of key decisions about buildings.
