Repatriated NZ servicemen welcomed home

From Morning Report, 8:54 am on 8 May 2018

The remains of the first servicemen repatriated to New Zealand after a change of government policy last year have returned home. George Beban and Ralph Scott both died in Fiji while serving in the airforce and Russell Moore from the Navy, died in American Samoa. Until now New Zealand Defence Force members who died overseas on active service between 1955 and 1971 were buried where they died. The remains of the men were welcomed at Ohakea Airforce Base on Monday. RNZ veterans' affairs reporter Andrew McRae was at the ceremony.
