Canterbury Crusaders name kept after terror attacks

From Morning Report, 8:48 am on 10 June 2019

The Canterbury Crusaders will retain their name until at least the end of the 2020 Super Rugby season - though they are dropping the sword-wielding knight from their logo next year.

The decisions have been made after the franchise conducted independent research, following calls for a name change in the wake of the Christchurch mosque massacre in March.

While the Crusaders have ruled out a name change before 2021, they are now undertaking a thorough review of all elements of its brand, with any recommendations expected to be announced by the end of this year.

Crusaders fan and the immediate past President of the Canterbury Rugby Supporters Club, Dick Tayler, talks to Susie Ferguson.
