Apprenticeships should lead to diplomas

Apprenticeships could soon have the same status as university degrees and diplomas. Industry training organisations say trade certificates are as demanding as academic study, but they are officially regarded as much lower-level qualifications. They say compared to other countries New Zealand under-values its trade qualifications and that needs to change. RNZ's education correspondent John Gerritsen reports.
