Iwi leader says police attitudes towards Māori vastly improved

From Morning Report, 6:43 am on 7 November 2019

An iwi leader is praising the relationship between Māori and the police saying it's made huge strides forward. Rahui Papa from Waikato Tainui was at the launch of the new police strategy to cut Māori re-offending rates by a quarter over the next five years.

It also aims to eliminate racism within the police force and work more closely with iwi on programmes to keep low level offenders out of court and prison.

Rahui Papa told reporters there's been a big change in attitude.
