A former student at Auckland's Dilworth School has descibed how he was caned by the headmaster when he tried to report that two boys had been sexually abused.
The police have arrested seven men as part of their investigation into abuse that spans four decades at the school going back to the 1970s.
The former student who RNZ has agreed not to name is not a victim but says two of his friends were.
He says he was 14 or 15 when he and another boy decided to tell a senior staff member what had happened.
He says that person seemed concerned and took them to see the headmaster who had a completely different reaction.
The school has told RNZ it will not be commenting on the stories from former students.
It says it has reported past abuse to the Police and that has resulted in some convictions.
It will not say how many.
