Lynmall terror attack: Documents reveal intelligence briefings

From Morning Report, 8:25 am on 30 March 2022

New security service documents show the LynnMall attacker believed he had been set up by someone who persuaded him to post extremist material online.

SIS briefings say Ahamed Samsudeen was likely to carry out a terrorist attack here only if he was prevented from leaving the country.

He stabbed supermarket shoppers in September 2022 and was shot dead by undercover police who were following him.

The Federation of Islamic Associations says it has found discrepancies between its own research into Samsudeen and the profile that police and SIS developed of him.

Reporter Gill Bonnett has been looking into this.
