Residents of a Maungatapu cul-de-sac in Tauranga rallied to save a family who were trapped in their home after a landslide overnight on Saturday.
Several homes were damaged, with one destroyed entirely.
Greerton Fire Brigade senior station officer Paul Arrowsmith was there for the rescue operation, and told Morning Report producer Ben Strang the community likely saved lives.
