While much of Northland escaped any signigficant damage last night, some areas of Whangārei were affected.
Northern Whangāruru, which regularly floods, was cut off last night - including the Tuparehuia marae.
Huhana Lyndon is the chief executive of the Ngatiwai Trust Board, and is from the Tuparehuia marae.
