A crowd of more than 75,000 was on hand in Sydney last night to see the Matildas crash out of the FIFA World Cup after losing to England 3-1 in an end-to-end semi-final.
Sam Kerr pulled Australia back into the match with her 63rd minute equaliser, smashing the ball into the net from distance.
But two misses from point blank range proved costly, as Lauren Hemp and Alessia Russo scored late goals to secure England the win.
