Waka Kotahi hopes to provide limited access across the SH 6 Haast Pass link on Tuesday.
If the weather and clearing efforts allow, car drivers will be able to join an escorted convoy along the route at 12pm and 4.30pm.
There is still no access for heavy vehicles.
