Founding Trinity Roots drummer Riki Gooch has a fruitful lockdown period. The percussionist who has worked with Bic Runga, Ria Hall and Fat Freddys Drop just released an album that features taonga puoro player Alistair Fraser. Riki has also composed a bush walk sound installation called ‘Forest Human Forest’ for experimental arts collective Pyramid Club.
On their walk around Piki Ki Maupuia on Wellington’s Miramar peninsula, Riki and Alistair talk to Yadana Saw about how lockdown was the right time to make Rangatira, an album for a lost friend.
