Tuneyards is the stage name of 32 year old New England native Merrill Garbus. The daughter of an old-time fiddle player and a piano teacher, Merrill has had her ears wide open from the beginning. On her second album 'WhoKill' Tuneyards uses African and Caribbean rhythms alongside saxophones, synths and ukuleles, all while hollering, roaring, rapping, or crooning - about social justice, race, gender - or more personal issues like self-loathing, sexual power and love.
