Public sector union welcomes investigation of Auditor General

The public sector union says it's crucial that an investigation into how whistle blowers were treated at the Ministry of Transport gets to the bottom of what happened. Yesterday, Martin Matthews stood down as Auditor General - the top official auditing the public sector, while a review is conducted into his suitability for the role. The review will consider his conduct during a major fraud that was carried out by a senior manager, under his watch at the Transport Ministry.The State Services Commission also announced it is taking over an investigation into whether whistle blowers were forced out of the ministry by Harrison.
