Shadia Amin's 68-year-old husband Ahmed Abdel-Ghany died at the Al Noor Mosque. Her son, Omar, was late to Friday prayers, otherwise he too could have been a victim. Shadia and Ahmed came to New Zealand from Egypt 23 years ago.
She says she is grateful for the money she will receive from the Christchurch Foundation but worries about the young widows with very young children, who she says need ongoing support.
