Te Waonui for week ending Friday 1 September 2017

More than 600 people have committed to speaking only in te reo Maori for either one full day, week, or the entire month in September; Te Puea Marae in South Auckland has begun discussions with the private sector to ensure it can continue providing social services to the homeless and the Government appears unlikely to be swayed by a United Nations report calling on it to hold an independent inquiry into the abuse of children and adults with disabilities in state care from 1950 to 1990.
