Police have named the missing teenager swept off rocks near Raglan on Saturday.
He is 17-year-old Jack Macnicol from Te Awamutu.
Sergeant Vince Ranger said Mr Macnicol was fishing with family members when he was swept off the rocks at about 1.30pm.
He said an extensive search to find the missing teenager had continued today, with a particular focus on the shoreline around Papanui Point.
Over the weekend a police helicopter, coastguard patrols and the local surf club helped police search and rescue teams comb the surrounding waters.
Mr Ranger said police were extremely grateful to those who have assisted the search - including Mr Macnicol's friends and family.
He said the search would be assessed on a daily basis going forward, depending on weather and tidal conditions.
