Broncos book playoffs place

8:46 am on 2 September 2012

The Brisbane Broncos have secured a place in the National Rugby League finals with a 19-12 win over the Penrith Panthers.

But the their lacklustre nature of the victory will hardly put any fear into their rivals.

Still, Kiwis second-rower Alex Glenn was happy after saving Brisbane's NRL season with his 13th and most important try of the year against Penrith.

The recently turned 24-year-old Aucklander, who's being groomed as a future Broncos captain, came up with the match-winner in the 75th minute to break a 12-12 deadlock with Brisbane's season on the line, making sure Broncos warrior Petero Civoniceva was given a winning Suncorp Stadium farewell in front of 35,178 fans, who were kept on edge by a gritty Panthers.

Brisbane are set to play either North Queensland or Cronulla in their first finals knockout match next weekend.
