Players boss says pre-match hand shakes must remain

The boss of the English Footballers Association says the row over Anton Ferdinand's refusal to shake John Terry's hand could descend into a "mafia feud".

The row dominated the build-up to Sunday's draw between Queens Park Rangers and Chelsea and mirrored recent incidents.

Terry was found not guilty of racially abusing Ferdinand last season.

Professional Footballers' Association chairman Gordon Taylor says they have to move on and insists pre-match handshakes should remain.

The goodwill gesture before kick-off between opposing players was brought into the Premier League in 2008-09 as a part of the 'Get on with the Game' initiative.
