The Australian tennis player Samantha Stosur has won her first title since her 2011 US Open triumph, beating world number 2 Victoria Azarenka in straight sets in the final of the Carlsbad Open in California.
The 6-2 6-2 victory was Stosur's first win over two-time Australian Open champion Azarenka in nine career meetings and it provided her fourth career singles title.
It was also the Australian's first appearance in a final since losing to Azarenka in Doha last October.
The title success is sure to give world number 13 Stosur a handy rankings lift as well as fresh confidence ahead of the US Open starting in three weeks.
