Sigmund suspension looms large

The All Whites defender Ben Sigmund expects to learn soon just how many games he'll be banned for after being sent off for stomping on an opponent in New Zealand's 2-0 loss to the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday.

Sigmund spoke to the media on Friday, having returned home from Riyadh and again apologised for the incident.

While any ban won't rule him out of New Zealand's World Cup qualifier in November, Sigmund accepts he certainly harmed his chances of getting selected.

But he's also worried about the impact the incident could have closer to home.

Sigmund says he's not proud of what he did and telling his young son what happened was difficult.
