Team Australia has won the Coastal Classic yacht race from Auckland to Russell.
The Australian trimaran clocked eight hours and 15 minutes to finish nearly 37 minutes ahead of the New Zealand-owned TeamVodafone Sailing trimaran.
Team Australia snapped TeamVodafone's three-year winning streak, but didn't break the sub-six hour Coastal Classic race record set by TeamVodafone last year.
Over 160 boats departed Auckland but only Team Australia and TeamVodafone finished by sunset, while eight had withdrawn with gear breakages.
