All Whites can't play for Phoenix

12:59 pm on 2 November 2013

New Zealand Football won't allow any All Whites to play for the Phoenix in the A-League just before this month's World Cup qualifying series.

NZF has rejected a proposal by the Phoenix, who are second to bottom on the ladder, to let their internationals play against the Perth Glory in Christchurch next Saturday.

World Football regulations state players called up for international duty must be released by their clubs five days before a match.

The All Whites play Mexico four days after the Phoenix match.

New Zealand Football has requested that five Phoenix players - Glen Moss, Leo Bertos, Andrew Durante, Ben Sigmund and Jeremy Brockie - not play the Round 5 match against Perth Glory.
