South Africans win emotional home Sevens

An emotional South Africa came from 14 points down to beat New Zealand 17-14 in the final of the Port Elizabeth round of the IRB rugby sevens series.

New Zealand led early through tries to Scott Curry and Sherwin Stowers, but spurred on by a partisan crowd at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, the South Africans took control of the game in the second half to score a memorable victory.

The tournament victory was a fitting tribute to former South Africa president Nelson Mandela, who passed away on Friday.

New Zealand still lead the series by two points from South Africa, with Fiji third.

The fourth round is in Las Vegas at the end of January.
