The Wellington Phoenix striker Paul Ifill has undergone surgery to repair an Achilles tendon injury but will miss the rest of the A-League football season.
Ifill was injured in the Phoenix' first win of the season over Sydney on Sunday night and had to leave the field on a stretcher.
A team spokesman says the surgery has seemingly gone well.
