Phoenix can burst into A League top four

6:51 pm on 27 February 2014

The seventh placed Wellington Phoenix can break into the top four of the A league football competition, if they beat fifth placed Adelaide tonight in Adelaide.

There's just one point between the two side and the match is likely to be a high scoring affair with Phoenix's last three games producing 15 goals while Adelaide's have produced 12.

The Phoenix have won seven of their past 10 games and striker Stein Huysegems with ten goals is the competition's leading goal scorer.

The Phoenix midfielder Carlos Hernandez has also been involved in more goals this season than any other player - scoring six with eight assists.

The match is being played tonight to avoid a clash with the opening round of the Australian V8 Supercar series which is being held in Adelaide this weekend.
