The coach of banned sprinter Asafa Powell has launched a scathing attack on the Jamaican anti-doping authorities after his charge was given an 18-month suspension for returning a positive doping test.
The former world record holder and training partner Sherone Simpson tested positive for oxilofrine after the 100m finals at the Jamaican national championships last June.
Powell blames Canadian physical therapist Chris Xuereb, claiming he provided a nutritional supplement that resulted in the positive test.
The 31-year-old's coach, Stephen Francis, says the Jamaican anti-doping authorities are a joke and Jamaica should sub-contract it's doping testing to another country who can do it right.
Francis says Powell will appeal his 18-month ban.
