Olympic silver medallist Peter Burling has skippered Team New Zealand to a race win for the very first time in China, taking out one first and two second places at the Extreme Sailing Series event in Qingdao.
That's lifted the team to third overall, ahead of Sunday's penultimate day of racing.
The racing was right on the edge, with wind gusts up to 32 knots weaving their way through the surrounding skyscrapers across the stadium racecourse.
The experience of Alinghi and The Wave of Muscat was evident, and the teams remain first and second respectively.
