Hockey and canoeing get boost in SPARC funding

Sport and Recreation New Zealand has announced funding of 6.3 million dollars to 19 sports following the 2010 contestable investment round.

Womens hockey and canoeing are amoung the sports to receive boosts in investment... significant results this year including qualifying for the World Cup and Champions Trophy will see women's hockey getting 650 thousand dollars next year, while the growing depth of Canoe Racing has seen it receive 800 thousand dollars.

The contestable funding is in addition to the 15 million dollars invested in the 9 targetted sports of athletics, bike, rowing, swimming, triathlon, yachting, rugby, cricket and netball.

New Zealand Football did not request funding for the All Whites high performance programme for 2010.
