The Volvo driver scored his fourth win of the year and his second of the weekend when he flew past Holden's Garth Tander in the last 100 metres on the main straight, stealing a win that should not have been his.

Tander had run out of fuel in the final corners after a 20-lap fight with McLaughlin that he managed to lead not quite to the death.

Mclaughlin says he feels sorry for Tander but he's ecstatic with the win.

He says his team said to him about five laps to go keep the pressure on as he was tight on fuel.

Mclaughlin says in some ways he was lucky but his car was great the whole time... sometimes it happens … he's been out of luck as well."

With one round remaining New Zealanders Shane van Gisbergen is fourth overall, McLaughlin fifth and Fabian Coulthard sixth.
