Glading thought it was time to move on

The outgoing New Zealand Football chief executive Michael Glading says it's the right time to move on.

Glading, who's resigned after two and a half years in the role, took up the role when New Zealand Football was one and a half million dollars in debt - but the organisation's recorded its first surplus in four years.

Glading was also at the helm during the All Whites qualifying process for this year's World Cup in South Africa.

He says he looked ahead and decided he wouldn't continue in the job, and the timing was right as he thinks the game's in great shape.

Glading will step down from the role in March.
