Over the course of the Covid-19 pandemic RNZ Pacific has regularly touched base with one of the more isolated islander communities on the United States mainland.
About 15,000 people with a Marshall Islands heritage live in northwest Arkansas, where many of them work in meat plants.
It has suffered tremendously from Covid-19 with dozens of deaths and thousands of people becoming infected.
Dr Sheldon Riklon grew up in the Marshalls, got his medical training in Hawaii, and these days is an associate professor at the University of Arkansas's medical campus in Fayetteville in northwest Arkansas.
Don Wiseman asked him how it is now, in the Marshallese community, 13 months after the pandemic arrived.
