Pasifika health professionals are working hard to inform and educate their communities about the current Omicron outbreak and the importance of getting all three jabs to protect themselves and their loved ones.

According to health authorities more than 50 percent of cases in the current outbreak are Pasifika.

The chair of the Pacific GP network Api Talemaitoga says they had expected high numbers in the community, given large aiga and multi-generational households, there's also a high number of Pasifika peoples working in frontline and essential service roles.

He spoke with RNZ Pacific reporter Lydia Lewis who began by asking what they were doing to try and stop the spread of Omicron within vulnerable Pasifika communities.
