1:15 Groundbreaking neurological research goes global

The Mātai research centre is taking world leading medical imaging research from Gisborne to the globe.

From an initial project to better identify and treat concussion, the three-year-old centre is now juggling multiple groundbreaking research projects in a range of areas.

Dr Samantha Holdsworth is the medical physicist and the founder of the not-for-profit institute. 

Today she talks to Jesse about the various projects they have on the go.

Monday December 11 is International Mountain Day - a day to celebrate mountains and the incredible role they play in our world.

It’s also a great day to celebrate the Mt Arthur giant wētā, Deinacrida tibiospina, which lives in the mountains of Kahurangi National Park in tussock and alpine herbfields.

This cute giant wētā is under threat from rats and mice and is now classified as critically endangered.
