Vanessa York is the nose behind perfumery, Fleurs du Mal. Jesse last caught up with her four years ago when she'd just taken up a residency at Auckland Council community arts facility Studio One: Toi Tū, in a decommissioned toilet block. Vanessa's boutique, small batch-made perfumes are inspired by weeds and flowers, sunshine and shadows, laughter and poetry. She's in to chat about how to make perfume, why they smell different on different people and how to choose the perfect scent or scents, for you.
