The inaugural winner is Sri Lankan Pākehā writer and actor Saraid de Silva, who has been described as "fresh and vital voice in New Zealand literature" by Auckland University Master of Creative Writing course director, Paula Morris.

Saraid joins Jesse to talk about her prize-winning work.
