A French military helicopter has landed on Moto Lava atoll some 200 kilometres south of Tikopia.
Members of the French navy team aboard the helicopter say all the island's inhabitants survived the battering by cyclone Zoe.
The team reported that some houses were damaged and several landslides had cut roads on the island, but life was returning to normal.
