The head of the Justice Ministry in the Cook Islands says the government wants to maximise the involvement of the local building industry in the construction of the new courthouse.

The funds for the two million US dollar project are coming from China.

There have concerns about the appearance of the building and whether it will be appropriate for the Cook Islands.

The Chinese offers allows the government to choose from two designs.

So far discussions are still going on over which site the courthouse will be built on.
