The Chinese Ambassador to Papua New Guinea, Zhao Zhenyu, has presented more than 26-thousand US dollars to assist relief operations in the province of East Sepik, which was hit by an earthquake nearly a month ago.
Mr Zhenyu says another 2 million dollars will be given in December, by the visiting Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister.
China recently gave 50-thousand dollars worth of aid towards volcano relief efforts in West New Britain and another 256-thousdand dollars towards the budget.
The ambassador says China was a Third World country which understood the troubles poorer countries were facing.
Mr Zhenyu says China also had a similar experience in 1986 when a large earthquake caused massive destruction in his country.
