The re-elected American Samoan member of the US Congress, Faleomavaega Eni Hunkin, has been left out of being able to choose congressional leaders.
This follows the need to have a run-off election last week because in the first round no candidate won a simple majority of 50 percent plus one vote.
Faleomavaega says the delay with the run-off vote disenfranchises American Samoans.
"I cannot participate in casting my ballot in deciding who's going to be my leaders, be it Republican or Democrat, because this was done last week...and because of this run-off election it loses my leveraging in working with other members of Congress as a Democrat or Republican in doing this, now, I'm short changed in terms of the opportunity of bidding for other committees."
