The Vanuatu Media Association will meet the government today to raise its concerns over the way media are being treated.

The association's president, Kiery Manassa, says he wants to raise four specific issues, but is seeking help to raise awareness of the need to have accountable institutions.

"If the government could help the media association to ensure that government leader, heads of statuatory bodies, civil servants and the public at large understand that anyone who holds public office are managers of public money and resources and therefore they are accountable to the people of Vanuatu."

His call comes amid a dispute between the Vanuatu Maritime Authority and the Daily Post which has resulted in the paper being served an injunction to stop reporting about the authority or its staff.
