Forum gets a year to develop economic framework

Pacific Economic Ministers have given the Forum Secretariat a year to develop a draft conceptual framework for long-term regional economic co-operation and harmonisation.

In the Action Plan developed by the Ministers at their annual meeting this week in Rotorua noted the moves towards regional integration already underway but said that there could be additional benefits if activities were brought within a framework.

The chairman of the FEMM meeting, New Zealand Finance Minister, Michael Cullen, says it is an evolving process.
