The Solomon Islands Football Federation has received 100-thousand US dollars from the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands for the development of soccer in Solomon islands over the next 12 months.

Solomon Islands radio says this was announced by the head of RAMSI, Nick Warner, who says the gift is from all the participating countries in appreciation of what soccer does in promoting peace and unity of Solomon islands through sports.

Mr Warner says soccer is very effective in uniting the people of Solomon islands in peace.

He says this was evident when thousands of people filled the streets of Honiara to celebrate the country's national team's 2 all draw with Australia in the world cup Oceania qualifying tournament last month.
