A Fiji treason convict jailed for life for his part in the May 2000 coup has applied for constitutional redress in an attempt to overturn his sentence.
Radio Legend reports that the applicant is Timoci Silatolu who wrote to the Suva High Court seeking redress.
The radio says when Silatolu appeared before the court today, Justice Devendra Pathik told him that his letter did not state the grounds on which he was seeking redress.
Silatolu was told to seek legal assistance.
Silatolu is reported to be asking the Legal Aid Commission to see if they can represent him on October 13th when Justice Pathik will decide if the matter can be taken further.
