Police in Solomon Islands uncover firearms and ammunition in raid

5:24 am on 5 November 2004

Police from the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands have raided several houses and recovered a number of firearms and ammunition in Honiara.

Police confirmed two men were charged yesterday with illegal possession of ammunition and possession of cannabis.

They say another man is expected to be charged with illegal possession of firearms.

Police are keen to speak with anyone who has information concerning the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

Officials aren't ruling out any link between the raid and the shooting of a RAMSI vehicle a fortnight ago.
