Taiwanese President stops off in Guam on return home from trip to Solomons and Palau

The Taiwanese President, Chen Shui-bian, stopped over on Guam for several hours yesterday and attended a reception on his way back from official visits to Palau and Solomon Islands.

Guam's Pacific Daily News says that when he arrived on the island, Mr Chen attended a wreath-laying ceremony at the War in the Pacific National Historical Park.

Guam's governor, Felix Camacho, expressed a warm invitation to the people of Taiwan to visit Guam and hoped that the friendship between the two islands would be strengthened in the future
