Samoa's Central Bank says counterfeit notes in circulation

10:20 am on 5 May 2005

The Central Bank of Samoa has warned the public to be on the look out for counterfeit ten and one hundred tala bank notes.

Although bearing some resemblance to genuine notes, the bank says the counterfeit notes are easily distinguished through the absence of a watermark and black cotton thread, as well as the softness and poor quality of the paper used.

It asks the public to report any information that may lead to the apprehension of the persons involved in the production of the notes.
