The Papua New Guinea Lands and Physical Planning Minister has asked the government to create space for 21 women representatives to be elected into parliament during election time.

Dr Puka Temu said this in support of Community Development Minister Dame Carol Kidu who wanted the PNG government to follow the Bougainville example of electing three compulsory women representatives.

Dr Temu says the government must make recommendations and put forward proposals for more women to be elected to represent people in parliament.

Dame Kidu has also asked for women to be nominated for to vie for the 2007 elections
