Nine Papua New Guinean fishermen are feared drowned in the Torres Strait after their boat capsized in rough seas.
The PNG Southern Divisional Police Commander John Marru says 10 fishermen had set out for the Warrior Reefs near Bobo Island on Monday but search parties have failed to find them.
Villagers on the PNG mainland however found one man from the fishing party, Paul Damabe, unconscious on the shore.
Mr Damabe is now recovering in Daru Hospital in Western Province.
PNG officials say strong winds have been making the search for his companions difficult.
