Tuvalu has been without international phone links for two weeks.

Tuvalu's Deputy High Commissioner to Fiji, Kakee Kaitu, has told the Pacnews agency that an equipment malfunction at Telecom Tuvalu cut the connection.

Mr Kaitu says they are sending some parts on an Air Fiji flight and hope to have the problem fixed tomorrow.

Mr Kaitu says the only way people have been communicating with the rest of the world has been through e-mails.

Fiji's International Telecommunications Company has also confirmed that the island nation has been cut off for the past two weeks.
